Performance Max Ad Specs

Performance Max is a new goal-based campaign type that allows performance advertisers to access all of their Google Ads inventory from a single campaign.

Note:

  • Performance Max utilizes a mix of image and video assets, requiring a variety of sizes to appear dynamically in the browser. 
  • Performance Max campaigns must have at least one video that’s longer than 10 seconds. You can upload a maximum of 5 videos. We recommend having at least one landscape, square and vertical video.

Image Design Recommendations:

We recommend submitting 20 images total, broken down into following sizes: 

Landscape (1:91:1)

  • 8 landscape images sized at 1200 x 628 px
    • Minimum dimensions: 600 x 314 px

Square (1:1)

  • 8 square images sized at 1200 x 1200 px
    • Minimum dimensions: 300 x 300 px

Portrait (4:5)

  • 4 portrait images sized at 960 x 1200 px
    • Minimum dimensions: 480 x 600 px

Accepted File Formats: JPG or PNG

Maximum File Size: 5120KB

 

Video Design Recommendations:

  • Accepted File Format: YouTube Video Links
  • Total Length: 15 seconds recommended
  • Minimum Length: 10 seconds
  • Maximum Length: 30 seconds

 

  • Dimensions: Please provide one of each
    • Landscape 16:9
    • Portrait 9:16
    • Square: 1:1

Please note:

  • If you don’t add a video to your Performance Max asset group, one or more videos may be auto-generated from the assets in your asset group and may appear in a horizontal or vertical format.

War Room Tip:

  • Best practice is to use generic images that can run for longer vs specific promos that have a limited flight dates. Please provide images that meet listed recommendations or can be cropped to these recommended sizes.

Logos Recommendations

Please provide at least one logo image in square and landscape dimensions. If you have additional variations of logos, please provide a maximum of 5 logos in each dimension (10 total).

Square Logo - 1:1

  • 1 square logo sized at 1200 x 1200 px (Maximum 5 images)

Landscape Logo -  4:1 (Optional)

  •  1 landscape logo sized at 1200 x 300 px (Maximum 5 Images)

Headlines

Please provide a maximum of 15 unique headlines and a maximum of 5 unique long headlines. 

  • Short Headline: 30 characters max (required)  
    • 7-15 allowed

    • 5 maximum
    • 2 (Recommended)

 

Descriptions

Please provide a total of 5 descriptions, including at least one with 60 90 characters or less

  • Short Description - 60 characters max (1)
  • Description - 90 characters max (maximum 4, minimum 2) 1-5 descriptions)*
